Hailing from the depths of the early 90s black metal underground in the Czech Republic, Amon released their haunting demo "Call the Master" in 1992.
Clocking in at around 21 minutes, "Call the Master" showcases a primitive blend of black metal with tinges of early death and doom metal.
The band’s sound is cold, lo-fi, and oppressively dark, reminiscent of seminal influences like Bathory, Venom, and Hellhammer, but with an added atmospheric layer that echoes the cavernous feel of early death/doom acts.
"Call the Master" is a cult artifact within the Eastern European black metal scene. Much like fellow Czech bands Root and Master's Hammer, Amon carved out their own niche, contributing to the esoteric and ritualistic sound that distinguished the region’s black metal from the more well-known scenes in Norway or Sweden.
For collectors and purists, this demo is a must-have, offering a raw, unpolished snapshot of black metal at its most primal and obscure.
