Origins in the Shadows
On a frigid February night in 1991, Taranis emerged from the clandestine depths of Poland’s underground music scene. Despite their brief existence, this band carved an indelible mark on the genre of black metal, earning a place alongside luminaries such as Xantotol, Christ Agony, Graveland, and Behemoth.
A Unique Influential Sound
While many contemporaries drew inspiration from iconic acts like Rotting Christ and Bathory, Taranis found their muse in the haunting melodies of Swiss band Samael and the evocative words of Polish mystic Tadeusz Miciński. Their music resonates with the shadows, capturing the essence of dark arts and gnostic mysticism.
Reviving Darkness
As we revisit their monumental work, *The Obscurity*, dedicated to Miciński, it’s time to let the brilliance of Taranis’s artistry blossom once again, illuminating the depths of Polish black metal history.
